We bring tired café chairs, rockers and hat stands back to life — regluing loose joints, reshaping bends and recaning seats by hand. We also build small batches of steam-bent pieces to order.
Loose rings and legs are taken apart, cleaned and reglued with hide glue so the chair can be repaired again in the future.
Old shellac is revived where possible. Where it is too far gone, we strip gently and refinish by hand.
Cracked bows are splinted and laminated; missing parts are steamed and bent from matching beech.
Hand-woven seven-step cane, pressed sheet cane and rush seats. Hand caning takes longer but lasts for decades and can be repaired in sections.
Visits are by appointment only, Tuesday to Friday. Please write first so that someone is at the bench when you arrive.
